Made possible by local donations to the SEEC Prosperity Fund, SEECs Curb Appeal Program is focused on exterior design and building improvements along the Main Streets throughout Schoharie County. SEEC is offering incentives to commercial and mixed-use property owners or business tenants. Applicants must be willing to invest in positive visual and sustainable improvements that complement the desired character of commercial and historic districts.

In 2024, placing an emphasis on historic districts - 8 across the county! - and Main Street beautification, SEEC received applications from nearly 20 commercial property owners/tenants requesting co-investment. SEEC organized a “Review Committee” and hired design consultants to help each applicant realize the building’s potential. The Review Committee recommended grant awards to 13 projects spanning seven different communities so they could make historically appropriate building improvements. Projects commence summer 2024 with intended completion December 2024.
